The typical insurance policy has many requirements and deadlines that the policyholder is expected to meet and we’ll want to ensure any potential complications are minimized as quickly as possible. Knowing and fully understanding your duties and rights under your insurance policy is critical to making a full and complete recovery, whether or not you hire us. The sooner you are in contact with us, the better the chances are for us to help put you on the path to recovering fully. In our initial consultation, we will review the facts of your claim and come up with a strategy that meets your needs. To make your consultation as effective and beneficial for you as possible, the following information is helpful (if you are unsure about any of this or don’t have some of the information, don’t worry, just contact us and we will walk you through the best way to find it):
Brief description of the property: location, approximate size, approximate age, use of the building, and type of construction
Brief factual description of the loss: type of damage, date of loss, has a claim been made yet, who is involved with the loss thus far (contractor, attorney, etc.)
A copy of your insurance policy: Please note that many policyholders do not have a copy of their policy handy. If you cannot find the policy or do not have a copy of it available, you can contact your agent and request an electronic copy.
Copies of: any estimates, letters, photocopies of checks, denials, or admissions of coverage from your insurance carrier.
